| I spent a couple weeks with the wrestlers of Hanaregoma stable in the Ogikubu section of Tokyo during the lead up to the January 2005 tournament. Once the tournament started, I returned to the stable to get a sense of how life there differs during actual competition times. Kazuya Hayeshida--one of the stable's youngest wrestlers--let me follow him from morning practice at the stable, through to the locker room at the sumo stadium after the match.
